Factors that influence a place are explained - In groups of three, students collect information about the different factors that shape place. Each student will become an expert in one area and then teach it to the rest of their group.

In pairs, students annotate the demographic character of the 2011 census and the answer the three key Questions:

  1. Is there any patterns between the data?
  2. Does ethnicity impact on education or homeownership?
  3. Are most people healthy and how does that link to employment?

Students to complete the two exam questions;
Compare the demographic character of Hathersage and Eyam with Sinfin. In your descriptions refer to the differences between each ward and England as a whole. (5)

What can you infer from the home ownership data about the age make-up of these two wards in Derbyshire? (4)

Students debate which factor they think has the biggest impact on shaping the character of a place and must explain why they think this.
