The lesson focuses on process over outcome, with students experimenting through a series of quick portrait exercises before creating a final expressive piece.

Lesson sequence:

Introduction: Students are encouraged to stop worrying about being “good at art” and instead focus on observation, experimentation, and risk-taking (linked to AO2 and AO3).
Activity 1 – Blind Drawing (10 minutes):
Activity 2 – Continuous Line Portrait (10 minutes):
Activity 3 – Non-Dominant Hand Portrait (10 minutes):
Final Task (20 minutes)

The lesson promotes confidence, experimentation, and expressive drawing, helping students strengthen observational skills while understanding that mistakes and unconventional outcomes are valuable parts of the creative process.
