1-1000 number ‘square’ /1000 grid arranged in rows of 10s (it is an extended 100 square). This is a really useful visual aid to support Lower KS2/SEND children who are developing or consolidating their fluency and understanding about numbers beyond 100.

The grid has been coloured in blocks of hundreds to help children see when they are crossing the hundreds boundaries. This could be printed or used on screen as there are transparent coloured and opaque black/white counters down each side that can be used to drag and drop when counting or to cover up numbers.

This resource can be used to teach many maths objectives such as: finding 1, 10 or 100 more or less than a number; comparing and ordering numbers; rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000; number patterns and sequences; multiplication facts’ and as an alternative to a number line for addition and subtraction calculations.
