2021 UPDATED MAGAZINE UNIT EDUQAS GCSE: REPRESENTATION IN 'PRIDE' AND 'GQ'

LESSON 7-10 IN UNIT: This lesson concludes the 10 lesson unit (13/14 lessons with assessment time and peer marking in addition). This lesson focuses on:

-STARTER: CAN YOU SMELL WHAT I’M COOKING UP?: On the following slide, I have included an exemplar LV9 PEE paragraph on the Dwayne Johnson ‘GQ’ cover. To unlock it and use it as an exemplar, all you need to do is fill in the blanks/ some of the key RAIL terms I have obscured. To help you, I have sprinkled the slide with a set of terms that may or may not, appear in the response. Terms can also be used more than once.

-Selection and combination example with unseen ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine covers on positive body image.
-A visual breakdown on how and why the media construct media.

-Consumerism and it’s relationship with body image

-Deconstruct the representation of men in the front cover of ‘Attitude’. Consider the choices the producers have made about how to represent men (Unseen Ru Paul cover).
-Laura Mulvey’s Male Gaze.
-Structured peer marking of assessment and green response task.

-Mastery and step by step breakdown on what each part of the question is and how to attack it in the exam, Students to plan. I have also included a 5/5 mark exemplar for students to model answers from as well as a:

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is only providing Media Studies at GCSEl, as a three-year Course. Moreover, some of the tasks in lesson and for H/W are dependent upon owning the EDUQAS GCSE Revision Guide.
