Please noteWritten for the inferential testing content of AQA A-level Psychology (7182), Paper 2 Research methods: probability and significance, levels of measurement, factors affecting the choice of test, the sign test (calculated), when to use the other tests, critical values tables, and Type I and Type II errors. The sign test also appears in AQA AS Psychology (7181). The AQA specification names calculation only for the sign test; for the other seven tests (Spearman’s rho, Pearson’s r, Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, related t, unrelated t and chi-squared) it requires knowing when to use them and using critical values, and its maths requirements include substituting into the chi-squared formula and finding degrees of freedom. Calculations of Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney and Spearman are included as labelled extensions. Other details differ by board: check your specification.
Mark schemes use Study Hack’s own mark tags and are not an exam board mark scheme. Independent resource, not endorsed by any exam board. All questions are original Study Hack material.
