This resource is based on an award-winning short animated film, ‘The Present’, easily accessed online. The 18 slides are rich with visual aids and relevant text, yet they are clear and interactive.

The main outcomes of this lesson are: to learn (or revise) basic vocabulary related to the story, to build with it simple sentences in the 3rd person of the present tense and, in this way, to tell what happens in the film.

The tasks in the slides are very interactive and most lend themselves well to pair or group work. The teacher may use the visual aids in each slide to modify the tasks or add new ones as they see fit.

The link to access the short film is included in the slides. The duration is 4 minutes and is mostly silent.
