This is Topic 1 of a planned series of Topic booklets covering the complete Pearson Level 3 AAQ BTEC National in Engineering Unit 1: Engineering Principles.
The complete Unit 1 series will comprise four Topic packages:
Topic 1 — Engineering Statics and Mathematical Foundations
Topic 2 — Dynamic Engineering Systems
Topic 3 — Electrical and Electronic Engineering Principles
Topic 4 — Fluid Engineering Systems and Thermal Physics
Each Topic will follow the same format and teaching approach, with a fully illustrated Teacher Delivery Guide and complementary Student Booklet. This provides departments with a consistent teaching, practice, homework and revision programme across the complete externally assessed Unit 1.
This resource is the first package in the series: Topic 1 — Engineering Statics and Mathematical Foundations.
Topic 1 develops the mathematical foundations required for engineering statics before progressing through forces, vectors, equilibrium, moments, beam loading, stress, strain and material properties.
Further Topic packages will continue the sequence through dynamic engineering systems, electrical and electronic engineering principles, and fluid engineering systems and thermal physics, using the same lesson structure, visual design and explicit teaching approach.
