Hi,

This lesson is based around the basic understanding how to add and subtract (mixed)fractions. I have broken this lesson down into 3 stages, converting between mixed and improper fractions, adding and subtracting fractions and finally problem solving questions. There is a good range of differentiation and scaffolding which will cater towards middle to high ability students. I have used a range of AfL to check understanding and cover misconceptions.
The main activities can be displayed on the board for the students to copy into their books as they show their working out. In addition to this, most slides have answers and worked solutions.

I have attached a starter to this lesson so that basic skills can be addressed before the lesson starts. Please read the above before purchasing.

The learning objectives covered are:
- Students must understand how to convert a mixed number into an improper fraction. - Identify the LCM of any given fraction to add and subtract fractions.
-Apply knowledge of converting mixed numbers into improper numbers, to solve mixed fraction questions.

Enjoy!
