This resource features integrated mathematics and literacy activities inspired by Chapters 3 and 4 of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

The literacy tasks include thought-provoking questions that explore the novel’s rich symbolism. The mathematical activities, which are linked to Alice’s surreal journey, introduce concepts such as the Game of Life, strange attractors, the doubling of the cube and Markov chains. The topics covered enrich any curriculum and are easily adapted for students of all abilities in the 11+ age range.

The files are provided in both pdf and an editable PowerPoint.

In addition to the above there are answers, additional notes and worksheets as well as ideas for extension work.

“Any subject can be taught effectively in some intellectually honest form to any child at any stage of development.”

Bruner, J. (1960) The Process of Education, Harvard University Press
