This resource contains a highly visual 50-slide PowerPoint lesson that clearly and visually demonstrates and explains alphabetical order to the first, second, third, fourth and fifth letter. It also explains why it is important to understand and use alphabetical order. Opportunities are provided within the PowerPoint to practise putting items into alphabetical order.
It also contains 12 worksheets. The tasks include:
placing words/ items in alphabetical order to the second and third letters
placing patients' names in a doctor's filing system
locating CDs in alphabetically labeled boxes
re-writing shopping list in alphabetical order
The worksheets are differentiated - one set contains the letters of the alphabet on the worksheets for students to refer to. The second set are more challenging and do not include the alphabet on the worksheet. Students will need to know the alphabet to complete these.
This resource is appropriate for primary aged pupils and older, SEN/ ESL / EFL students.
