Three animal-related activities where pupils must add punctuation to information texts about three animals: badgers, hedgehogs and spiders.
Pupils must read the texts and add the missing punctuation, including the following:
• Capital letters for the start of sentences
• Capital letters for proper nouns
• Full stops
• Question marks
• Commas in a list
• Commas in compound sentences
• Commas after fronted adverbials
• Apostrophes for possession
These tasks are useful when learning about or revising punctuation, including sentence punctuation. The non-chronological report style texts help to familiarise pupils with this non-fiction genre, and the subject matter, animals, is of interest to children.
The three texts are differentiated by type of punctuation used and sentence structure.
Each sheet comes with its own answer key.
