To support my students in preparing for the new style AQA AS-level Economics Paper 2 (The national economy in a global context) I have been re-jigging the old specification papers (from January 2009 onwards).

In practice this means that I have made a coversheet for the original exams which:

  • tells students to omit five of the multiple-choice questions (as the new spec has 20 compared with 25 in the old)
  • creates two new questions for each of the Section B contexts: namely a calculation-question (Q2) and a diagram question (Q4), which are a feature of the new spec that didn’t exist on the old spec.
  • re-numbers the original Section B questions so that they for Q1, 3, 5 and 6 for each context, and re-assigned points to them to follow the new spec methodology.

I have also created a markscheme for each ‘new-style’ paper, which:

  • follows the new marking methodology
  • provides answers to my made-up Context B questions
  • re-jigs elements of the original markscheme into line with the new .

PLEASE NOTE : These are not AQA publications; my made-up additional questions are my invention and not endorsed by AQA. I have created them simply to give my students a better approximation of a new-style exam paper.

Included here are 4 files: the coversheet for students (PDF and Word versions) and the markscheme (PDF and Word versions). I am assuming that you have or can find the original AQA paper online.
