A complete revision workbook covering Using Resources for AQA GCSE Chemistry.
I made this resource to bring the whole topic together in one place, with revision notes, practical work and exam practice all built into the same workbook. Using Resources can feel quite broad because it mixes sustainability, water treatment, materials and industrial chemistry, so I’ve broken it into clear sections to make it easier to follow.
The workbook covers:
- Sustainable development
- Using finite and renewable resources
- Potable water
- Required Practical 8 – analysis and purification of water
- Waste water treatment
- Phytomining
- Bioleaching
- Life cycle assessments
- Recycling and reducing environmental impact
- Corrosion
- Preventing corrosion
- Alloys
- Ceramics
- Polymers
- Composites
- The Haber process
- NPK fertilisers
- Data and evaluation skills
- Calculation practice
- Mixed retrieval practice
- Exam-style questions and full answers
Throughout the workbook, I’ve included a mixture of clear revision notes, diagrams, worked examples, quick-check questions, common mistakes, exam tips and application questions.
There is plenty of practice with the areas students often find more difficult, particularly life cycle assessments, evaluating environmental impacts, water treatment, corrosion, the Haber process and fertiliser production.
Chemistry-only and Higher Tier content is clearly labelled where needed so students can easily see which sections are relevant to them.
The required practical is also covered in detail, including the method, observations, calculations and the kind of practical questions students may come across in an exam.
Towards the end of the workbook there is mixed retrieval practice covering the whole topic, followed by original exam-style questions with full answers and model responses. A final checklist is included to help students identify anything they still need to revise.
The workbook can be used from start to finish or dipped into for individual sections, making it suitable for independent revision, homework, tutoring, intervention sessions or classroom revision.
I’ve tried to keep the explanations straightforward and easy to follow while still including the level of detail students need to properly understand the topic and apply their knowledge in GCSE exam questions.
