AQA GCSE Psychology – Development Revision Notes

These are my complete AQA GCSE Psychology Development revision notes, covering every specification point for this topic, including early brain development, nature and nurture, Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, the development of intelligence, mindset theory and learning theories.

I created and used these notes during my own GCSE studies, and a lot of the key points and phrasing have been built from past-paper questions and mark schemes, so they’re focused on the kind of knowledge and explanations you actually need for the exam.

The booklet is 9 pages and includes clear definitions, key theories and studies, AO1 and AO3 evaluation, examples and applications to education throughout. It covers Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development, McGarrigle and Donaldson’s Naughty Teddy study, Hughes’ Policeman Doll study, Dweck’s Mindset Theory and Willingham’s Learning Theory, as well as the four stages of cognitive development, assimilation and accommodation, praise, self-efficacy and learning styles. It can be used for learning the topic, making flashcards or for final exam revision for AQA GCSE Psychology Paper 1.
