A challenging, rigorous and detailed unit focused upon AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1 (Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing) exam to be sat from June 2017. This unit focuses upon the analysis of three literary fiction extracts, with a full Q1-5 provided for each, allowing students to practice exam-style questions throughout the unit. This culminates in a mock exam in the final week of the unit so that teachers can assess students' progress and areas for further development. The whole unit is punctuated by a wide range of key skills activities, along with a range of SPaG activities to strengthen student responses to both reading and writing questions.

This detailed and high quality unit includes:
* 26 lesson plans (with 13 differentiation strategies)
* 143 slide PowerPoint presentation (divided into lessons)
* Copies of all extracts for students, which include context and plenty of annotation space
* Annotated teacher copies of extracts, colour coded by question and with terminology highlighted
* Two mock exams and associated inserts (one for class use, one as homework)

* Key information about the course, paper and assessment objectives
* Analysis of 'Rebecca' by Daphne du Maurier (1938) extract, with associated Q1-5
* Analysis of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee (1960) extract, with associated Q1-5
* Analysis of 'Every Man for Himself' by Beryl Bainbridge (1996) extract, with associated Q1-5
* Planning grids for Q4 - can be completed individually, in pairs, or in groups
* Key skills activities focused upon inference and deduction (Q1)
* Key skills activities focused upon language techniques (Q2)
* Key skills activities focused upon structural techniques (Q3)
* Key skills activities focused upon critical evaluation (Q4)
* Key skills activities focused upon descriptive and narrative writing (Q5)
* SPaG starter activities
* Mock exam for class use - focused upon 'At the Bay' by Katherine Mansfield (1922)
* Mock exam for homework - focused upon 'The Night' by Ray Bradbury (1946)
* Teacher/peer/self assessment opportunities

Fantastic resource, thank you so much for this it has been a life saver with my current year 11 who are to do a mock next week. Are you considering doing a similar resource for AQA Literature (Power and Conflict) paper 1 and 2?
