This is a series of lessons on finding the area of a rectangle. It starts off very basic by finding them by counting squares. However it moves onto finding the area and then onto compound shapes to allow children to develop their knowledge. It then has a series of functional problems and also problem solving questions to make such a basic topic extremely challenging for all pupils. The are some more vague concepts to really challenge the pupils.
All tasks are differentiated, 2-4 levels for each task to make it accessible to all pupils but also to stretch the more able. All tasks have full solutions to it is easy to peer and self assess during the lesson. The lesson includes reasoning and problem solving tasks which ensure that this is suitable for the 9-1 GCSE curriculum. I have used this lesson and pupils were engaged yet challenged.

Generally pretty good, and a lot of content. However there are mistakes built in - where the diagonal of cm square is counted as 1 cm for perimeter questions. Also, for a shape topic like this, having the questions ready as worksheets would be ideal. I'm disappointed having paid quite a high price.
