This resource helps pupils revise arithmetic by reminding them about common mistakes. They are encouraged to practice looking for mistakes and checking their work. It is designed for KS2 maths, particularly revision for Y6 Sats.

Word Document

Two versions:

  1. Common mistakes with one correct and one incorrect answer and pupils choose between them, then say why.
  2. Common mistakes but with only the incorrect answer, and pupils just answer why they are wrong.

Each resource has 4 questions per A4 page (two on the last one).
Questions from 1-18 are generally easier operations/fractions.
Questions 19-36 are generally harder operations and fractions/percentages.
Resource includes blank sheets for pupils, 36 questions and guide answers

The questions are the same. I have included both sets as they are a slightly different way of approaching the work which may be better for some pupils.

Can be used:

  • Outdoor/indoor activity. Pupils have their own blank sheet and go around the room/playground. A great movement activity for nearer stressful Sats time.
  • Small group work for revision.
  • Printed onto card for classwork.
  • On screen a few at a time for whiteboard work/starters.
