This is a lovely clay project for KS2 or 3. It is approximately 6 lessons long. You could make it longer by studying Matisse’s work in greater depth by making a painting or copying a part of his work.
Students learn about the work of Matisse and make their own Matisse inspired collage.
Students complete figure drawing studies and then make their own Matisse inspired figure out of clay. You can use air drying clay or a kiln. The clay can then be painted or glazed.
This is then combined with their collaged background.
