Script for first slide: The Matrix was a 1999 action movie in which Keanu Reeves played Neo, a computer hacker who found out the grim truth that reality as he knew it was actually controlled by a race of self-aware robots. In his dystopian world, machines had convinced humanity that they were living in the real world, when in fact what they thought was reality was only a virtual simulation – and they were in fact enslaved to the machines in reality.
In today’s assembly, we are not here to discuss the possibility that evil machines might one day destroy our perception of reality, nor are we here to discuss whether or not robots might actually rise up and enslave humanity. No, I’m here to ask the question: Have they already done it?
