Your first SEN maths lesson after half-term, ready to teach: one power-up mission, four differentiated levels and no compulsory writing.

Build Your Power-Up! gives pupils a reason to calculate. A floating-island portal offers four powers. Pupils choose one jump power and one shield, add prices, check their budget and reveal their chosen kit in action. Each illustrated reveal includes sums and change for all four levels.

What this gives you
  • A visual hook and predictable routine for the first lesson back.
  • One shared adventure with four starting points in the same class.
  • Maths before the reveal: wallet, total, money left and the rule on the activity.
  • Teacher prompts, handout timings, worked models and complete answers.
  • Participation through pointing, gesture, speech, personal AAC, drawing, dictation or writing.
Exactly what you receive: 3 PDFs
  • Display Adventure: 17 landscape pages with a five-token model, kit menu, four action illustrations, levelled maths checks, a complete ending and optional Magnet extension.
  • Printables: 15 A4 pages, including 12 pupil activities (three per level), a communication board, a reusable kit/receipt board and a cover.
  • Teacher Guide: 8 A4 pages with quick start, page-selection table, read-aloud prompts, worked examples, every valid kit combination and selected England National Curriculum mathematics links.
Four learning levels
  • 1 / Early KS1 - red: count and combine up to 5 tokens, with pictured quantities.
  • 2 / KS1 - green: add, subtract and compare kits within 10 tokens.
  • 3 / Early KS2 - gold: use £1 = 100p; calculate totals and change.
  • 4 / KS2 - blue: calculate with £5.00, compare options and keep a minimum reserve.

Learning labels describe demand, not chronological age. Designed for mixed-attainment SEN groups, including ages 11-14 working on foundational maths. Primary use depends on pupils’ needs. Tokens in Levels 1-2 are number practice, not British coin recognition.

Open. Project. Teach.

Follow the suggested 15-minute route with one chosen activity page, or extend to around 25-35 minutes. The screen-only five-token demonstration is also available. Restart the wallet for every activity. Timings are estimates; adapt to your class.

No cutting or special equipment. No internet needed after downloading. Teacher-led/read-aloud. Static PDFs with optional internal links: the teacher opens the selected illustrated scene. Files are not editable or animated.

Original story and visual supports; AI-assisted illustrations reviewed for continuity. Supports are not Widgit symbols. Text is selectable; PDFs are not fully tagged. Selected maths practice, not a complete curriculum programme.
