40 fully worked binomial expansion questions for OCR Level 3 FSMQ: Additional Mathematics (6993), the post-GCSE qualification that bridges into AS and A-Level Maths. Every solution is broken down one step at a time, with a plain-English reason for each line, right-margin annotations, and OCR mark-scheme codes (M1, A1, B1, DR) folded in exactly where the real exam awards them.

Questions run in three graded bands, Easy then Standard then Challenging: expanding brackets in ascending and descending powers, finding a single coefficient using the general term, the term independent of x, unknown constants from a given coefficient, products of two expansions, ratio and ‘first three terms’ problems, a binomial approximation, and two ‘detailed reasoning’ (DR) items that match OCR’s own command-word style. Scope is kept exactly on-spec: n is always a positive integer (EN1), so there is no fractional or negative-index binomial from A-Level and no validity condition.

The pack opens with a key-facts box (the given binomial series, the general term, and the language that costs marks on this board) and closes with a clean, print-ready worked-solution set. Ideal for strong Year 11 and Year 12 students sitting 6993 as enrichment or as a run-in to AS Maths.
