This activity allows students to explore the different scenarios related to remainders - perfect for developing their understanding of division, remainders and number in context.
Students will work together to organise the scenario cards into different categories: whether the remainder should stay as a whole number, be turned into a fraction, or written as a decimal.
Once the categories have been organised, students will go on a gallery walk around the classroom to compare and discuss, before then calculating one or more of the division calculations.
This activity also comes with 2 additional challenges to provoke higher order reasoning and develop mathematical thinking.
