For BTEC Applied Science Unit 1: Principles and Applications 1 (Biology). Four revision games to cover B2 of specification. Get your students to learn while they are having fun. Included in the resource:

CELL SPECIALISATION QUIZ
The quiz, which can be printed or completed on editable PDF, includes an answer sheet to save you valuable time. There are four rounds –
• Picture round where students must identify 8 pictures showing structures found in specialised cells.
• Reproductive cell round which consists of 10 short answer questions on how egg and sperm cells are specialised to their function.
• Plant cell round which consists of 10 questions on the specialisations of palisade mesophyll and root hair cells.
• Blood cell specialisation round which consists of 8 questions on how red blood cells, neutrophils and B and T lymphocytes are specialised to their function.

CELL SPECIALISATION BLOCKBUSTERS
The game is ideal for two teams and is played on PowerPoint. There are 25 letter tiles (some with more than one letter) each with a question attached. Answer sheet available and arranged in alphabetical order to make it as easy as possible for you.
If a team gets an answer correct click on their coloured band on the appropriate tile to change the whole tile to that team colour. If the answer is wrong, the other team might be able to answer it.
White team must aim to create a path between the top and bottom of the grid – connecting white to white.
The blue team must aim to create a path across the grid from one side to the other – connecting blue to blue.

TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE
A PowerPoint game which can be carried out as a team or students can write down their answers individually.
Each slide has a main topic written at the top and three statements about that topic. Students must identify which of the three statements is untrue. They can write their answers on a piece of paper and you can move onto the next slide.
Reveal whether each statement is a lie or the truth by clicking on it.
Remember students need to identify the lie.

CELL SPECIALISATION MAZE
Another team game. Team A must get from their staring position to the central star and Team B will have a different starting position. First team to the star wins (or you can give a certain number of points for the star and one mark each for a correct answer and decide who wins based on score).
To open a gate, click on the gate and answer the associated question. Answers are included in the PowerPoint.
If the answer is wrong click on the red band that is revealed when you return to the game slide. The gate will now stay shut and an alternative route must be found.
If they got the answer correct, click on the green band and the gate will open.
Includes over 40 questions on cell specialisation.
