For BTEC Applied Science Unit 1: Principles and Applications 1 (Biology) covering B1 of the specification. The resource consists of four games so your students can have fun while they revise. They will also provide you will valuable information on how much they know, understand and remember. The resource includes:

CELL STRUCTURE QUIZ
The quiz, which can be printed or completed on editable PDF, includes an answer sheet to save you valuable time. There are four rounds –
• Picture round where students must identify 8 pictures which are organelles or other parts of cells.
• Eukaryote round which consists of 10 short answer questions on the structure of eukaryotic cells.
• Magnification round which consists of 10 questions on how to covert from one measurement to another and how to calculate magnification, image or actual size.
• Prokaryote round which consists of 6 questions on the structure of prokaryotes.

CELLS CATCHPHRASE
Includes 20 questions (answer sheet included). Give your students points if they answer the questions correctly. Gradually reveal the picture beneath the tiles for bonus points. The picture is relevant to the topic of cell structure.

GUESS WHO
This game can be played in teams using the PowerPoint or can be printed for students to play in smaller groups. Each team/student will be given one of the organelles on the pictures and the other team/student must ask questions to eliminate option. They are not allowed to specifically ask if it is a particular picture. Instead, they must ask questions based on the features of the object.
For example, asking if it is a cell will distinguish between the four organelles and the four types of cell.

CELLS MATCHING PAIRS
This game can be done with the whole class in teams using the PowerPoint. There are 12 pictures with 12 matching descriptions, all randomly placed on the grid. Students must reveal two tiles, decide if they match or not. If not, they must remember their positions so that they can match them later. Recover the tiles by clicking on them. Points can be awarded when students correctly match pairs.
Answer sheet included.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER GAMES IN THIS SERIES?
There are also games available on cell specialisation, epithelial tissue, muscle tissue and nervous tissue.
If you are not sure if the games are right for you, you can try the muscle tissue games for free – available in my shop.
If you like the games, you can save money by buying the games bundle.
