Chapter 1 Number Lesson PowerPoint Bundle Pearson Textbook Edexcel Higher GCSE

This is a bundle of lesson PowerPoints designed to follow Chapter 1 (Number) of the Pearson Textbook for the Higher course for Edexcel GCSE Mathematics.

The suggestion is to use use one PowerPoint per lesson. Some topics may be spread over two lesson PowerPoints or occasionally combined into one lesson if this fits the content best. There are two PowerPoints each for Strengthen and Extend since these are longer exercises that you may like to complete over two lessons.

Each PowerPoint contains a starter, slides for teaching the content and direction to the textbook for the lesson’s activity.

The starters for Check Up and the Practice Unit Test are goal-free questions, allowing students to explore everything they can do with the information given. Give the students some time to find out everything they can and then collect ideas in a class discussion.

The starters for Strengthen are interleaving starters. They will cover topics from the current chapter and previous chapters to aid long-term retention. For this I have used questions from ‘Interleaving & spacing the GCSE Mathematics curriculum’, a resource on here created by Billyads_47. They deserve all credit for these starters.

The starters for Extend are from Corbett’s Conundrums. These are used to encourage student to develop their problem solving skills.

These are the PowerPoints I use to teach. Various elements of them have been taken from different resources across the web and I apologise to anyone if I have not credited your resource at all. I will be uploading PowerPoints for every chapter as they are completed.
