I’ve put together this CVC bundle to provide a range of activities that can be used as children develop their confidence with reading and writing simple decodeable CVC words. This are activities that I have personally used in my classroom and part of my role as a Support for Learning teacher.

The idea is to start with identifying individual sounds before moving on to spelling and reading complete CVC words. I’ve also included some practical phonological awareness activities for children who need a bit more support before tackling the worksheets.

As with my other resources, I’ve tried to keep everything straightforward, with clear pictures, simple layouts and no unnecessary frills.

What’s in the bundle?

25 CVC worksheets:

• 5 Missing Initial Sounds worksheets
• 5 Missing Final Sounds worksheets
• 5 Missing Middle Vowels worksheets

• 5 Read and Draw worksheets

Each activity contains 9 questions, covering a mixture of short vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u).

The bundle is suitable for phonics lessons, small-group interventions, individual support, independent practice or informal assessment.

You don’t need to work through everything in order. Teachers can pick and choose the activities depending on what their children need, although I’ve included a suggested progression for those who want a more structured approach.

Hopefully, it saves you a bit of planning and gives you a useful bank of CVC activities to return to.
