AQA GCSE Conflict and Tension Peacekeeping Bundle

The aim of this five-lesson bundle is to introduce the first part of the AQA GCSE Conflict and Tension 1918–1939 course, focusing on peacemaking after the First World War and the challenges facing the Allied leaders as they tried to establish a lasting peace.

Students explore the aims of the peacemakers, the compromises made at the Paris Peace Conference, the terms of the Treaty of Versailles and how far the different countries were satisfied with the settlement. The final lesson examines the wider peace settlement imposed on Germany’s former allies.

The lessons include a range of activities to develop students’ knowledge, encourage discussion and help them reach their own judgements. Retrieval practice and differentiated learning tasks are included throughout to reinforce understanding and support students of different abilities.

The bundle also provides opportunities to practise typical AQA GCSE exam questions, including source analysis, write an account, the 16-mark judgement questions with the additional 4-mark question. Guidance and model answers are included where appropriate to help students develop their exam technique.
