Looking for a simple, purposeful way to bring a little St Patrick’s Day sparkle into your maths lessons?
Count to 6 on St Patrick’s Day is a set of colour and black-and-white worksheets, each worksheet has 6 cards.
There are 3 worksheets in colour, duplicated in black and white.
Children practice counting to 6 while cutting, colouring and handling themed cards.
Ways you could use the cards:
Colour, cut and Sort: Each child chooses one of the 3 black and white worksheets. They colour the pictures, cut them out and sort the the pictures from 1 to 6.
Colour to Make the Same: Provide a completed colour example and ask children to colour their black-and-white pictures to match.
Sorting Station: Duplicate, cut out and mix the cards and challenge pupils to sort into groups (same number, same picture, most/least, odd one out).
Talk and Explain: In pairs, one child chooses a card and explains how they know it shows a given number e.g. 4, reinforcing mathematical language and reasoning. How does each picture relate to St Patrick’s Day?
Ideal for table tasks, continuous provision, small group work or a quick seasonal maths boost - with just enough leprechaun charm to keep things lively without overwhelming your display boards!
