The decimal point does not move! When you multiply by 10 or 100 or 1000 the number becomes bigger and the digits move to the left. Division works in a similar fashion but the digits move to the right. Pupils find this concept tricky so this resource, complete with a PPt and accompanying, differentiated worksheets, explains everything extremely clearly. The author has many years of experience and realises the importance of how place value underpins the understanding of decimals.
