Build confidence with density, mass and volume with a complete, editable GCSE Foundation PowerPoint. Designed for whole-class projection, this print free lesson keeps teaching, practice and answers together. Pupils work in exercise books or on mini whiteboards, with no worksheet required for the main activities.

Pupils select the appropriate calculation, substitute values and give answers with correct units. Practice moves between finding density, mass and volume before combining quantities. The lesson explicitly models why the density of a combined object must be calculated from its total mass and total volume.

WHAT IS INCLUDED
• One editable 71-slide PowerPoint.
• Six retrieval questions with answers, followed by prerequisite checks and answers.
• Explanations of density and the relationship between mass and volume.
• Six I Do / We Do examples arranged in three matched pairs, with space for live teacher working.
• Worked modelling solutions to support discussion and checking.
• Twenty individual AFL questions, each immediately followed by its answer or solution.
• A 36-question whole-class practice slide with a one-slide answer summary.
• Developing, Secure, Greater Depth and one Super Challenge together on one differentiated activity slide.
• A differentiated answer summary and supporting worked reasoning.
• Two dedicated misconception questions, each followed by an explanation.
• Three original exam-style questions, suggested marks and worked answers.
• Three final exit checks, each followed immediately by its answer.

REASONING AS WELL AS CALCULATION
The Super Challenge uses two materials with densities of 2 and 6 g/cm³. Pupils reason about the volumes needed to produce a density of 5 g/cm³ and distinguish the volume ratio from the mass ratio. Worked answers explain the reasoning so that teachers can discuss the method as well as the final result. Greater Depth questions ask pupils to justify conclusions and connect different representations of the same relationship.

CHECK UNDERSTANDING THROUGHOUT
Use the retrieval and prerequisite questions to identify gaps before the main teaching. The twenty AFL checks allow a short pupil response followed by immediate feedback. Dedicated misconception slides make errors a focus for discussion. Exam-style applications then check transfer, and the final exit questions provide a short check of what pupils can do independently.

PRACTICAL FOR WHOLE-CLASS TEACHING
Compact instructions preserve working space. Shared task slides keep pupils at different levels active together, with a clearly separated Super Challenge area. Answer summaries support efficient class checking; additional worked explanations are available where the reasoning needs more attention.

Use for initial teaching, consolidation or GCSE revision. Pupils should be confident with multiplication, division and metric units. This is the Foundation pathway for Calculating with Density, Year 10 Unit 12, U910. Created by Beyond Printables.
