KS3-KS4 detention and behaviour reflection activities for disruptive classroom behaviour, with 2 illustrated worksheets and matching teachers’ notes.

Activities and learning

Two illustrated scenarios examine disruption during lessons. Pupils consider the consequences for their own concentration and learning, the experience of classmates and the ways attention-seeking or frustration can affect group work. They reflect on an incident and suggest more constructive ways to participate in class.

What’s included

  • 2 illustrated pupil worksheets (2 detention lessons)
  • 1 combined pupil reflection document covering all 2 worksheets, supplied as one printable PDF and one editable Word file, with space for written responses
  • 2 sets of teachers’ notes, including suggested responses, activity timings, differentiation and discussion or follow-up guidance
  • General detention guidance, a model parent/carer letter and appendices on detention in England

Included worksheet titles

  • Class Clown
  • Losing Out

Using the resource

Each worksheet provides approximately 45–50 minutes of activities for individual supervised detention. Staff can adapt the editable reflection-sheet files and adjust support for pupils’ needs. Use with attention to SEND, communication needs and classroom circumstances. Difficulty engaging in a lesson should not automatically be treated as deliberate misconduct.

This unit is part of the Chalkface series Reflection tasks that improve behaviour in detention. For a complete, free, teachable sample, search for Detention for Smoking: behaviour reflection activities KS3-KS4 RTBDN in TES Resources.

The worksheet(s) in this unit were originally published by Chalkface as part of Detention Tasks to Improve Behaviour.
