In pairs, pupils take turns to roll a dice. The number on the dice on the first role corresponds to the horizontal row, and the second role corresponds to the vertical role. For example, if the pupils throws a two and then a six, they will go along the table to two, and then down to six. They must then say the French for the phrase in the box. If they get it right, they can colour in/sign that box. They take turns to see who can colour in the most boxes.
This is currently designed for a top-set, Year 7 class but it can be adapted to suit any year group or ability. For example, in a mixed-ability class, I would include some French to English translations which many pupils find much easier.
