Year 6 Maths Challenge Cards – Red, Orange and Green Levels
A set of 60 engaging maths challenge cards designed to develop fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills in Upper Key Stage 2.
The resource is divided into three levels of challenge:
Red Level *
Basic arithmetic, fractions, percentages, rounding, area, perimeter, time and averages.
Orange Level **
Larger calculations, decimals, fractions of amounts, coordinates, percentages, perimeter and area problems.
Green Level ***
Multi-step reasoning, algebra, ratio, percentages, proportion, scale factors and challenging real-life problem-solving tasks.
Each level contains 20 carefully selected questions covering a broad range of Year 6 curriculum objectives.
The three-tier structure allows pupils to work at an appropriate level of challenge while providing clear progression opportunities. Questions have been designed to encourage mathematical thinking rather than simple procedural practice, making them particularly useful for developing reasoning and problem-solving confidence.
