Suggested use: use either as a group or 1:1. Look at the big picture first and discuss it. Who is in the picture? What are they doing? With what? Where? Use the large symbols and create a sentence together, write joining words on paper and place between the key words Father Christmas is dancing with reindeer in the snow. Then encourage children to create their own sentences in line with their learning objective (giving them the correct number of key words to choose from).
Extension: encourage children to copy the/part of the sentence, or independently write the joining words.
