Want to develop a strong understanding of division with examples of both division with equal groups and division with remainders? This book and lesson only takes us up to the number 14 and so is designed as an introduction to the concept of division with remainders for younger children. This lesson with supporting resources is to accompany the Maths picture book ‘Divide and Ride’ by Stuart J. Murphy.
A fun, practical fusion of reading comprehension and Maths, the children will be super engaged with these hands-on and practical sharing investigations. A fun way to introduce division with remainders through single digit and some 2-digit division with remainders; this lesson also invites the children to reason which numbers do they know will not be able to be shared equally - encouraging lots of interesting discussion about the properties of number.
