A system for quality assurance for the EAL department at the school where I work as EAL Coordinator. The system is composed of the following elements:
EAL TAs Feedback Booklet – feeding back on the use of EAL strategies by teachers in the mainstream, communication between teachers and themselves prior to the lesson and the involvement of priority EAL students in the lesson, Interview schedule for EAL TAs, An interview schedule for at least 1 mainstream teacher, Learning Walk (observing an EAL student in lessons).
