In this lesson students delve into ‘filter dysmorphia’ - a new but growing phenomenon affecting the mental health of teens. Students will investigate how filters are creating completely unrealistic beauty standards - and how with the help of AI, almost undetectable filters are being applied not just to images, but to the videos of influencers and peer social media users too. Students will discover what is behind ‘Instagram Face’, why everyone is starting to look the same as each other in their uploads and the effect this is having on social media users. They will also discover useful and practical ways to relieve any negative thoughts or dysmorphia and the real message of the lesson - the importance of being authentic. 2) Careers, AI and Future Jobs - 2 HOUR LESSON for PSHE / Careers with a focus on how the rise of AI is already affecting the job market and how it will most likely affect all of our career prospects in future. The lesson focuses on the types of jobs that are already facing redundancies, the workplaces benefiting from the technology and the more ‘future-proof’ careers that it’s advisable for students to start considering. The lesson also investigates the prospect of UBI (universal basic income) and how we may see possibly this implemented in future. 3) Sextortion, Image Sharing and AI Deepfakes - NEW for 2026 DfE RSHE Guidelines: sextortion, pornographic image sharing and how to spot AI imagery. Students will learn what we mean by sextortion, how it happens, the scary statistics and how we report it / take measures to protect ourselves. Students will also learn the tell-tale signs of an AI generated video and how to spot these. Includes real life case-studies of online crimes and the penalties the criminals were given; students will complete a ‘you be the judge’ activity where they are given the UK sentencing options for online crimes and they will sentence the defendants, before we reveal what the criminals punishments really were (they were even harsher). 4) Chatbots, AI, Digital Literacy - Online Safety - NEW for 2026 RSHE DfE Guidelines - In this lesson students will learn about the dangers of chatbots, trusting AI advice without fact checking, the worrying increase of people developing affections or even falling in love with chatbots, the rising belief in some online conspiracy theories, and how chatbots can be programmed to give harmful advice and promote products without a user realising. Students will learn how to be a discerning consumer of information as stipulated by the 2026 RSHE Guidelines from the DfE. 5) AI , Pornography , Consent + Deepfakes Superimposes - New PSHE harmful behaviour online lesson focusing on image sharing, the increase of revenge porn, pornographic deepfakes, the law and the harm this causes victims as well as the legal penalties for perpetrators. The lesson also covers up-skirting as well as other forms of non-consensual image sharing and the consequences of these. Students will discover the legal details of the Online Safety Act, how UK police are enforcing this and the ongoing problems faced by both the legal authorities and the public regarding new AI technology. Includes detailed lesson plan. Meets new RSHE guidance for 2026. 6) Deepfakes, AI, Online Safety and Risks - 2026 NEW RSHE PLANNING GUIDANCE COMPLIANT (see lesson plan included for RSHE mapping details). PSHE lesson on deepfakes and malicious AI use (for new 2026 RSHE guidance - harmful behaviour online). Students will explore what we mean by deepfakes and malicious AI, before discovering how celebrities, politicians and citizens are falling victim of this new technology. They will investigate the new UK law (April 2024) and the penalties aimed at different types of deepfakes, including explicit ones (no imagery will be seen, just the concept discussed). Students will complete analysis tasks, literacy tasks, creative tasks, clip tasks and much more. Includes full lesson plan and the written scheme of work that the lesson is taken from. 7) Careers in an AI Future - This lesson delves into the ultimate careers question - which jobs will be future-proof in a world of AI? Students will first examine their own skills and qualities and research the current climate with regard to the rise of AI use in the job market. They will then study 24 different jobs, broken down into the six sectors which are likely to value human input and characteristics in the years to come. Students will assess these jobs against their own skills and qualities, before deciding if pursuing any of these options would be a good fit for them. This lesson will likely last two hours. 8) Extremism and Fake News - This two-hour lesson covers how we can check whether news posts on social media are real or fake, why its always important to check, especially before sharing, what can happen if we don’t, and how easily social media can lead us into extremist ways of thinking. Students will investigate a variety of news posts to assess whether they think they are real or fake, before checking them against verifiable sources, such as Full Fact, scientific research papers or official UK government data. All this information is included in an accessible, student-friendly way. The lesson covers six different forms of extremist thought, includes clips, creative tasks, information packs, literacy guides and much more. Best suited to KS4/KS5, but nothing unsuitable for KS3.
