A complete, fully animated PowerPoint lesson on translating graphs for Edexcel IAL Pure 1 (Chapter 4.4). It opens with a rules table for students to copy, covering y = f(x) + a and y = f(x + a), the column vector for each translation and what happens to a point. A clear rule runs through the whole lesson: outside the bracket moves y the way you expect, inside the bracket does the opposite to x. Students translate quadratics, cubics and reciprocal graphs, move the asymptotes and track key points. Includes wrong and right sketches of the classic mistakes.

What’s inside (17 slides): learning objectives, a starter, explanations, worked examples revealed one line at a time with graphs drawn live, common mistakes, practice with answers, an exam-style question with a full mark scheme, and an exit ticket.

All questions are original. Matches the Pearson Edexcel IAL Pure Mathematics 1 textbook (Exercise 4D). Watch me teach the lessons on YouTube: @mredinemaths.
