This series of lessons was created in response to the disappointing pass rate our whole cohort of Year 10’s received at the end of the 2020-2021 school year. We wanted to create a resource that identified weaknesses, provided solutions and support whilst also offering the students a shot at redemption. The lesson does include peer elements but is largely differentiated in a way that students work on their individual EBI’s and weaker responses. With a double provided for writing the mock, the going through of the power point and individual time allocated, this lesson equates to 8-10 lessons of planning. The exam questiosn were as follows:

It includes:

-Our observations of EBI’s (which have been left in for your interest)
-Support tasks to build up students exam technique, timings etc.
-A full LV9 exemplar of all of the questions written. These have been done on independent worksheets should you wish to hand them out throughout the lesson or provide them with the whole paper exemplar.
-All responses have been highlighted using our RAIL and Contexts highlighting colour coded system as well as clear instructions as to how this works.
-Differentiated slides on all of the questions to support students during the redraft stage.
-Redraft sheet as per our Dept policy.

IMPORTANT: I have written extensive notes in the notes section of the power point to support your teaching of the lesson full of observations and best practice having taught it to multiple classes. Also, you may wish to get students to peer assess work instead of marking all the retakes as a way of saving time and assessing that the lesson has worked in it’s LO’s.

WHILST DELIVERED TO YEAR 10, THIS RESOURCE CAN BE USED FOR YEAR 9-10.

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is providing Media Studies GCSE as a Three- Year Course.

If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.
