A complete primary CPD pack helping teachers establish effective classroom routines and transitions that build independence and protect learning time.
This ready-to-deliver staff meeting and INSET session helps primary teachers build effective classroom routines and manage transitions calmly, so that more time is spent teaching and learning. It is practical, evidence-informed and easy to lead.
The session sets out six clear principles for effective primary classroom routines: make the invisible visible, teach routines explicitly, keep cues simple and consistent, design out friction, build independence and review and reset. Teachers look closely at everyday moments such as arrival, gaining attention, carpet and table transitions, resources, partner talk, independent work and tidying, and learn how to teach these routines rather than simply expecting them.
Staff consider how strong routines support classroom management and protect learning time, how to build pupil independence rather than prompt dependence, and how to reset routines that have slipped. Examples span EYFS, KS1 and KS2, so the session works for a whole-school staff meeting or a phase team.
The pack contains everything needed to deliver the session with confidence.
