This independent revision activity carefully guides students to:

  1. Identify the ions present in a given mixture: water, acids, alkalis, molten salts, aqueous salts
  2. Predict the ions discharged at each electrode during electrolysis and the products formed
  3. Predict what remains after electrolysis (e.g., NaOH from NaCl electrolysis)

Students use the “rules” to answer the questions above for 36 different electrolysis mixtures, giving extensive practice of each type of problem.
