Employability Level 1: Equality and Diversity. Course Question and Task Booklet (City and Guilds)

This is a twenty-four paged booklet that I designed for adult learners who were completing a Level 1 City and Guilds Employability/ Personal Social Skills Course. This booklet is for the ‘Equality and Diversity’ module.

All the questions meet the qualification criteria. As a tutor you can either go through the booklet page by page, using it as the base for your lesson plan or give the learners the book as a research project.

I have created questions, scenarios and tasks for the following topics:

  • Equality
  • Diversity
  • Stereotyping
  • Discrimination ( Direct and Indirect)
  • Prejudice
  • Key Legislation against Discrimination

Below are the learning outcomes for the lesson:

By the end of the session all participants will :

  • Identify bodies who work on equality issues​
  • Define the term ‘diversity’​

  • Give examples of positive and negative stereotyping​
  • Give examples of how diversity can benefit society.​
  • State the difference between discrimination and prejudice​
  • List the areas of discrimination covered by legislation​
  • Give an example of direct discrimination​
  • Give an example of indirect discrimination
