English transition lesson for new Year 7 students that explores autobiographies and a specific extract from Michelle Obama’s autobiography. We explore the structure of the extract and analyse how the beginning and ending impact on readers, before going on to plan out the structure of our own chapter.

This lesson explores autobiographies and what an autobiography is, as part of a unit on the self and writing first person narratives. Ideal for new KS3 students starting at secondary school and can be used to build up to other units on writing and reading.
