English Functional Skills - Entry Level 1 - Writing Workbook and Powerpoint Lesson

This resource has been designed for students working towards Entry Level 1 Functional Skills English certification (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, NOCN and Open Awards). It contains an age-appropriate, 50-page workbook and a 95-slide PowerPoint lesson on the Entry Level 1 writing component of the English Functional Skills specification.

Recognise, write and sequence lower case letters and capital letters
Write short sentences
Punctuate sentences with a capital letter and full stop

Workbook

The 50-page workbook contains 10 information pages, 37 worksheets (with answers), 2 progress checks and a certificate of achievement. The workbook is provided in PDF format and an editable PowerPoint version to enable personalisation of the resource. It can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.

PowerPoint Lesson

The PowerPoint clearly explains the writing specification for Entry Level 1. It focuses on the alphabet, identifying sentences, writing sentences and punctuating sentences. Examples of writing tasks are given. The PowerPoint also contains a link to a short video about sentence writing. It is an ideal resource to introduce pupils to the writing component of the Entry Level 1 specification and for revision purposes.
