English Functional Skills - Level 2 - Punctuation Workbook

This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills English qualifications at Level 2 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, AQA, Highfield Qualifications, NOCN, Open Awards). It contains a 38-page workbook on punctuation.

This resource will help students to achieve these learning outcomes:

use capital letters accurately at the start of sentences and for proper nouns and the pronoun “I”
use full stops to mark the ends of sentences
use question marks accurately for direct questions
use exclamation marks appropriately to express strong feelings, emphasis or warnings
use commas to separate items in lists, separate clauses where needed and mark additional information
use inverted commas to identify direct speech and punctuate spoken words accurately
use apostrophes to mark omitted letters in contractions
use apostrophes to show singular and plural possession.
distinguish between “its” and “it’s” and use both correctly
use colons after complete clauses to introduce lists or explanations
select punctuation to make meaning clear and suit the purpose, audience and tone of a text
proofread and correct punctuation errors in their own writing

The workbook includes 13 information pages, 19 punctuation tasks and 5 progress checks. The workbook is provided in PDF and an editable PowerPoint version. It can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
