A lesson focusing on expanding quadratics when the coefficient of x squared is more than 1.

This is planned for after students have looked at expanding quadratics with a coefficient of 1. (Please see previous lesson on my resources)

Lesson structure:

  1. Do it now on expanding quadratics with coefficient of 1.
  2. Recap/Introduction to algebra tiles
  3. Examples of modelling questions such as (2x+1)(x+3) with algebra tiles and linking this to the more abstract grid method.
  4. I try, you try questions.
  5. Multiple choice AfL questions
  6. 3 sheets of student tasks - do it, secure it, deepen it, apply it.
Links to AO1, AO2 and AO3 style questions on expanding brackets.
    (Answers provided)
  7. Review of lesson with answers provided

Feedback is welcome so I can improve these.
Please check out my other lessons of a similar style or maybe my bundle on expanding brackets.

Thanks
