Needing a textiles/sewing project for your advanced beginner sewers that they can complete as a filler task while they wait for your assistance? Look no further than this Fabric Memory Game!
This is a step-by-step tutorial with photos that you and your students can follow to create 8 pairs of fabric tiles with patterned fabric on one side only.
It is a great project for students because they are required to carefully cut out matching patterns from fabric scraps, carefully trim the design with pinking shears, carefully stitch the patterned fabric onto a small plain square, stitch on a backing, turn through and top stitch. It can be a fiddly task but really teaches students the need to stitch straight and neat!
Students can then use this project as a finishing task to end the term once their main project has been completed, as a gift for a younger brother or sister or as part of a Christmas donation to those families less fortunate.
