This Fashion Cut-Out task encourages students to think about colour, texture, pattern and light/shade in their textiles designs. There are 11 outfits on a mixture of male, female, light and dark skinned bodies for students to select from.
Students need to cut around the garment or section of the outfit and place this cut-out against a range of backdrops to experiment with the colour, texture and pattern of the background and determine whether it works for their design or message. Once students have sketched or photographed their cut-out design there is a 4 page worksheet to get students clarifying their work and breaking down their choices for what they have used as the background to fill their cut-out design section.
