Figuras bajo sospecha

Revise Spanish literary devices through five mysteries in which close reading unlocks the clues. Students identify figures, interpret their effects and use the evidence to solve a final logic puzzle in each case.

‘Figuras bajo sospecha: el caso de las palabras que engañan’ is a Spanish-language workbook for IB DP Language A: Literature, IB DP Language A: Language and Literature, and MYP Language and Literature. Activities progress from guided identification to explaining how a writer’s choices contribute to meaning.

Five cases to investigate:

Each case contains six literary-device challenges and a final deduction page. Students unlock six clues, then match four characters with their objects and locations. Each case has one verified logical solution. Questions about literary effects allow different interpretations supported by textual evidence.

The activities cover metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, synaesthesia, metonymy and synecdoche, alongside repetition, contrast, sound and syntactic devices. Further challenges explore symbolism, sustained metaphor and enjambment.
