This activity explores and examines the point of view of a flapper, a bold and rebellious figure who represented the spirit of the Roaring Twenties. Students will analyze the flapper’s perspective on women’s rights, fashion, music, social expectations, and everyday life during the 1920s through her reflections on the time period. They will then answer corresponding scaffolding questions to better understand how the era’s cultural shifts, social norms, and changing roles for women shaped this exciting — and often controversial — period in American history.
